Banana Apparatus is a 3-piece ensemble founded in 2013 by Saurabh Levin and Ishan Gupta in Bangalore. Initially a duo, the project served as a vehicle for their experiments departing from conventional guitar and piano music into noise, feedback and DIY instrumentation.

Over the years, the project evolved to focus more on musical improvisation and spontaneity while retaining a strong affinity for noise and feedback. Their sessions and performances expanded to include live visuals, sampling, aleatory, spoken word, and performing with archival recordings.

Frequent collaborator, drummer and percussionist Bharath Haridas became part of the project in 2022 when he moved back to Bangalore and they have performed as a trio since then.
